Over 40 years ago, there was a vision for the City of Escanaba to provide affordable housing to members of the community. That vision became the Escanaba Harbor Tower.
Harbor Tower, since its grand opening 42 years ago, has consistently had 100 percent occupancy, with a waiting list. In fact one original resident still resides at Harbor Tower.
Harbor Tower is considered a high performer by the Federal Government's Housing and Urban Development Program (HUD). Since the early 1990's, the Public Housing Assessment System has given Escanaba's Harbor Tower top grades. The high grades are given to the Management and Staff for their top performance and upkeep of the public housing building.
The mission of the Escanaba Housing Commission is to provide and maintain safe, affordable, quality housing in a cost-effective manner for all eligible persons, without discrimination. We will partner with our residents and others to enhance the quality of life in our community.
